Bob knew from that Electric Vehicle experience and an analysis of world oil supplies that the "Future
is Electric".
EVA studied the advantages of different types of vehicles (cars, sportscars,
trucks, vans, SUVs) and identified that light-weight trucks had very specific electric vehicle advantages
(e.g. payload capacity, weight distribution, safety, etc.). See the technical paper "Selecting a Vehicle
for Conversion". In 1989 EVA converted a 1987 Dodge Ram 50 - that electric truck is still in operation
in 2003 after a number of EV owners. Then EVA converted an number of S-10s, including three for the
USAF. Other Electric Vehicle companies followed the EVA lead into light-weight electric trucks including
GM and Ford.
Then EVA became a distributor for Advanced DC Motors and Curtis Instruments
- leaders in components for Electric Vehicles.
After 15 years in business, EVA has grown to meet
the needs of many industrial customers (fork lift, golf cart) looking for systems for Electric Vehicles
and EV parts for unique applications as well as the individual building a Electric Vehicles (electric
